RiverCity Co-Director and Teacher
Bass, Vocals, some Keyboard, Guitar, and Drums
When did you start playing music and what was/is your influence for playing music?
I started playing piano at my parent’s behest at age 7 and stopped at age 12. I picked up the bass at age 14, inspired by my cousin Josh who played bass, and I haven’t looked back since.
What is/are your favorite song(s) you've help direct at RiverCity?
‘Over the Hills and Far Away’ by Led Zeppelin, ‘Day Tripper’ by The Beatles, and ‘My Sharona’ by The Knack!
What do you like about RiverCity?
RiverCity has completely changed my perspective on music. Teaching young kids how to play rock songs forces me to approach songs from a different angle. The same goes for the bass.
What are your favorite bands/artists right now?
The usual favorites: The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd. Currently stuck in rotation: Temples.
What advice would you give to aspiring musicians?
Play every day. You won’t get better overnight, but if you play every day, you WILL get better. Becoming a musician is a long-term commitment.
What things do you do when you’re not at RiverCity?
I’m the Beverage Manager at Venti’s Café. I also book the bands that play at Venti’s. I have a band called Sleep Millennium that is in the process of recording an album now. I also have some friends I play with sometimes including Gabriel Cox, Jake Blair and Rich McCloud.
