Student of the Week - Lee Graham
The student of the week is...
RiverCity Renegades Vocals and Keyboard
Started at RiverCity Rock Star Academy in June 2017
When did you start playing music and what was/is your influence for playing music?
I started singing when I was a small child. I would sing duets with my brother while my mother played guitar. I started playing clarinet in band about junior high. I was in jazz band and marching band. I quit band at age 15 and I stopped singing publicly at about age 17.
Tell us about your musically journey?
After wondering if I could sing after a lifetime of not doing it (not to mention 30 years of smoking), I took the “Yes, You Can Sing” class at Chemeketa Community College. The instructor urged me to find somewhere to advance my voice capabilities. RiverCity has been a great place for me to find my voice. I recommend it often to people as an emotionally gratifying experience. My bandmates and instructors feel like a supportive, nurturing family.
What is your favorite song you've played at RiverCity?
The first song I sang with the Renegades, ‘Mustang Sally’ by Wilson Pickett, will always have a place in my heart, but I am seriously looking forward to rocking ‘White Rabbit’ by Jefferson Airplane and anything else that comes my way.
What are your favorite bands or artists right now?
MC Yogi and The Renegades, of course!
What is your ‘day job’ (besides a Rock Star at RiverCity)?
Learning new things.
